A collaboration between established painter Janna Watson and designer Nico Soule, Watson Soule draws on Janna’s art to create luxurious hand-made rugs of aesthetic distinction. These talented makers needed a catalogue that would do justice to the expressive range of their collections and commissioned work and otherwise highlight their artistic background, services, and process. Working on a tight budget, we created a sumptuous book whose eye-catching features include foiled typography, a sewn binding and a die-cut cover allowing Watson Soule’s artwork to peak through. Boldly divided and printed large, the firm’s name was given special prominence above an intriguingly playful title, “Walk On This.” Interior editorial spreads use playful typography mixed with a clean grid structure to showcase the work and content. We wanted the catalogues to feel extra special so that they would be left out on the desk or coffee table rather than stored in a resource library. The catalogues is hand-distributed to industry leaders in interior design and architecture.
